Five Simple Steps to Embracing Spring 2020: A time for growth and new beginnings
We embrace what we are mindful of. By being around those
that we love, our families, we become even more conscious of their presence in
our lives. Mindfulness. Being conscious of what is around you and available to
you and truly understanding it can disappear.
1) Limit
Consumption: Life is lived in abundance
for some of us. This is a blessing, to have what we need and want at our finger
tips. Now, is the time to limit unnecessary spending - online shopping has
increased dramatically, as the need to stay indoors during a quarantine or
because major department stores and businesses are closed. During times like these, Online shopping is
useful, especially as the need for house supplies- food, cleaning supplies, medicine,
etc) are increasing and physical contact with others decreases. Forget the junk food
and get what sustains the body like proteins and oils. Drink warm water with
lemon and be grateful for what you have and be ready to give and become a
helper in these uncertain times.
2) Understand
and create ways to have constant communication with others in your life outside
the immediate family. Create meaningful exchange. Try to understand everyone’s
current state rather than assuming. Health for some, can deteriorate quickly.
Let them speak and share and be empathetic towards everyone, including yourself.
3) Read
More. Read inspirational stories and
learn more about your faith. Practice it daily. You can create a routine with
reading built in or be spontaneous about it and read when the mood strikes. Try
to have reading material in mind and available to you so you don’t spend your
motivated energy on searching, but rather learning.
4) Learn
a New Skill. Try to understand the useful knowledge behind its importance.
Share what you learn. Take time to really become an expert in something that
can help and benefit others.
5) Be
Corporative and Compromising. Speak in a kind and gentle manner with those you
are around, and understand what needs to get accomplished and help with meeting
individual and the ultimate goal of keeping healthy and surviving. Encourage
unity in your homes and amongst each other. Having routines for every member
can help create better habits that can create a better and more useful outcome
for the family unit. Everyone should help out and assume different
responsibilities as they present themselves. Time to really look at what we are
eating and how it is affecting our bodies. Self care and awareness becomes key
to staying healthy and having positive health. Worrying can compromise our immune
system so be conscious of creating positive thoughts and experiences.
We all live life with different priorities, although health
and taking care of your family and loved ones, should always the number one. To
have health and the mere ability to move frequently, eat healthy, and have
positive emotional health is of great importance. As with good health, the mere
ability to breathe peacefully on your own, provides one endless opportunities
for one’s life. We can’t control the future but we can control our response to
whatever happens with grace and kindness to those around us. This chapter in
your life and in history will be memorable.
