Five Steps to Motivation


How do we get ourselves and others to do their best? How do we help create extrinsic and intrinsic motivation? When we are motivated, we are simply inspired to do good, create or allow change and maintain a hopeful outlook on the future. We become more confident in our abilities and can manage our time well in all areas of our lives. To be motivated, one needs the physical self and mental state to do so.

Five Steps to Motivation

1)      Be Mindful:  Begin by monitoring daily repetitive thoughts and words that you speak and actions that are taken by you. Your thoughts can create your reality. Being conscious and aware of what you say to yourself during self-talk or out loud to others, has a great influence on your actions and what you come to believe about your world, circumstances and reality.

2)      Create Positive Thoughts: You are constantly constructing your reality and its important to construct positive thoughts about people and events and yourself so that these thoughts become automatic without much effort. It essence, your mind can automatically be governed by positive thinking or negative.

3)      Have a Goal: What do you want to be more motivated about? Career? Health? Relationship? Even if there is more than one area of your life you wish to change or have more control over, you will notice other parts of your life improving as well once you begin.

4)      Be Open to Guidance: Once we have a goal or change we wish to create motivation towards, we must be open to the guidance that reveals itself in different forms. The law of attraction will create ways to get closer to your goal if you are mindful and aware of your life and the people in it. Guidance can come from books, people, experiences, thoughts, prayer, etc. be open to receiving it and trying it.

5)      Do It: Begin today. Right now. Start with reading motivational text if you can. Surround yourself with support, but remain your biggest supporter. Starting thinking about how you will feel once you achieved your goal (s) however small or big it may be. Say kind affirmations to yourself and enjoy the process.

In life, we have such limited time. We can overschedule our bodies and minds to get the best use of our time, however, it is what you do with the time given to you. How are you going to spend it today?
